A Peek Inside Our Boat (Turned Tiny Home)

Figuring out how to furnish a tiny, floating space has been a bit of a challenge. But I think we've done a pretty good job of turning this boat into a home. The Catalina Wine Mixer is still a work in progress (and someday we may do some legit remodeling) but we think she's the prettiest place we've ever lived.

The first thing you'll see when you step aboard is the mid-deck. It's kind of like our front door and foyer rolled into one. You can access the bow, fly bridge, and main salon from here. We also use this space as Brian's office AND our dining room!

This space also serves as Brian office. I'm very, very jealous of his view.

Brian's desk transitions into a dining table. We could probably fit eight people here, but six is more comfortable.

The fly bridge sits above our the mid-deck. It's a great spot for reading and naps. It's also where you'll find the steering wheel and navigation equipment.

Indy sunbathes on the fly bridge every. single. day.

The best part of the fly bridge is the wet bar and ice maker, obviously.

Our living room furniture is super versatile. The top of our coffee table lifts up, making it easy to eat or work from the couch, which happens to pull out into a full sized-bed.

We love Netflix. And Bravo. Thankfully, the boat came with a TV (and VCR!) in the main salon. Indy's bed also fits perfectly in the corner.

My office sits between the kitchen and our entertainment console.

Our kitchen is tiny! And we haven't really done anything with it yet. We have a refrigerator and freezer, microwave, cooktop, sink and coffee maker. No oven. No dishwasher.

The engine room is below the main salon. Just lift the floorboards and you find a whole new world.

Our bedroom came complete with a built-in bed (it sits on top of our water tanks) and two very small closets. We also have an ensuite bathroom!

This might be my favorite room on the boat.

Like I said. The closets are tiny.

Our shower is surprisingly roomy. But you can't get too comfortable in there - the water heater only heats up about 15 minutes' worth of hot water at a time.

And that's our boat-turned-tiny-house! Not pictured: our 2nd bathroom and bedroom. We currently use the other bedroom as a storage space for our food, laundry, and linens.

There are tons of perks to living aboard (and living tiny), but I've found having less STUFF to worry about to be the most liberating. We were able to redecorate the boat in just a couple of hours (thanks, Target!) and our shopping list was pretty small. I'm excited to see how our home continues to evolve!
