A Tiny Thanksgiving Tablescape
There’s no way that we could host our entire family for Thanksgiving aboard The Catalina Wine Mixer, but that didn’t stop us from getting in on the Turkey Day festivities.
Brian’s desk doubles as our dining room table, and I think it looks pretty cute all dressed up for Thanksgiving. Here are a few shots of our fall tablescape, and a list of some of my favorite traditions and Turkey Day fun facts.
We keep tempered glass plates, metal utensils, and plastic wine glasses, cloth napkins and placemats onboard, but I picked up a few cute fall-themed decorations at Target.
This will be our first Thanksgiving on the boat, so I was even more excited to decorate. This time last year, we were still sorting, donating, selling, and packing all of our belongings. It’s crazy how much things can change in just one year!
How cute are these pumpkins? They’re all from the $1 Spot!
I don’t eat meat, so like most plant-based eaters, I have some mixed feelings about “Turkey Day.” Every year, instead of eating a turkey at Thanksgiving, we “adopt” one instead! You can too :) Learn more at The Gentle Barn or Farm Sanctuary.
I also grabbed a couple of faux garlands to lay across the table. And that runner is simple burlap.
Don’t tell anyone, but I don’t really like Thanksgiving food. It’s all so brown and bland! I really wish tacos had been served at the first Thanksgiving, too. Is it just me?
Instead of using our usual napkin rings (they felt too “summery”) I used a pretty metallic string!
This year will be our 10th Thanksgiving together. I don’t know where the time has gone! It’ll also be our eighth Thanksgiving with our precious little turkey, Indy.
I don’t think we got the proper settings quite right lol. We just aren’t that fancy ;)
We moved on the boat the day after Thanksgiving - in the pouring rain. We got absolutely soaked, but I wouldn’t have wanted to be doing anything else. Moving onto a tiny yacht is way more fun than Black Friday sale shopping. This year, we were planning to spend Black Friday out on the water or on a hike, but with the smoke from the Camp Fires hanging over the bay, we’ll probably end up watching movies and making tacos instead.
I think this shot gives a great perspective of the actual size of the space. But no matter how tightly we’re squeeze in, that view makes it worth it!
The thing I love most about Thanksgiving is that it reminds me to reflect on the things I’m most grateful for. That list would be way too long to write out here. But, most importantly, everyone I love is safe, happy, and healthy - what more could I ask for?
We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
